Here’s how to disable iPhone Lock Screen camera swipe starting from iOS 26.1. Here are the details on this.
If you’ve ever launched your iPhone’s camera by accidentally swiping across the Lock Screen, the upcoming iOS 26.1 software update is for you. Starting from beta 4 version of that update, Apple has added a new toggle that allows you to disable that functionality entirely.
Apple released the fourth iOS 26.1 beta to testers earlier this week, and we’re learning more about what the update will have to offer. One big change is a new toggle in the Camera section of the Settings app that allows users to enable to disable the camera swipe.
The toggle, labeled “Lock Screen Swipe to Open Camera” does exactly what you think it does. Disabling it means that swiping left on your iPhone’s Lock Screen will no longer open the camera, removing the chance for accidental launches.
The ability to quickly take a photo from a locked iPhone has been around for a long time now, but there is no denying that it can be all too easy to accidentally trigger the swipe gesture. If you find that happens a lot to you, this toggle will be the answer.
To disable, head over to Settings > Camera > Lock Screen Swipe to Open Camera and turn off the toggle.
Apple hasn’t yet confirmed when iOS 26.1 will be released to the public. However, it’s expected that it will be made available towards the end of October or in the early part of November.
