The first Apple MacBook Pro with a touchscreen could launch as soon as 2026, according to a new report. The machine would use a touch-capable OLED display, according to the report.

The news comes from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, writing in the weekly Power On newsletter. Gurman believes that the updated MacBook Pro could debut in late 2026, while early 2027 is also a possibility.

The refresh is also rumored to include a hole-punch camera at the top of the MacBook Pro’s display, replacing the notch. A thinner and lighter overall design is also thought to be in the cards. It’s also suggested that Apple is working on tweaking the display hinge to allow it to withstand the force of being touched.

This would be the first full redesign of the MacBook Pro lineup since 2021, when Apple announced the M1 Pro and M1 Mac version of its popular powerhouse laptop.

If everything goes the way that it is expected to, the new OLED touchscreen MacBook Pro will be powered by Apple’s M6 chip. The chip would be the replacement for the M5, silicon which Apple only unveiled this week.

As for the future, it’s unclear whether touch capabilities will come to other Macs like the MacBook Air or iMac. Apple appears to be using the MacBook Air as as test for the technology before moving to expand it to the rest of the lineup.
