Tesla Model 3 Finally Gets Front Bumper Camera And Signal Stalk Option

The wait is over. Tesla has finally added front bumper camera to Model 3 Highland refresh, as well as an option to get signal stalk.

While this currently only applies to vehicles sold in Asia-Pacific region, such as Japan, Taiwan, South Korea and Chinese markets, and only for new order for now, it’s only a matter of time before this change comes to Model 3 manufactured in all regions, including North America and Europe.

Tesla so far hasn’t announced anything on whether these two things will come as retrofit option for existing Model 3 Highland owners, but it’s very much possible the company will announce something in due time.

It’s important to note that Model 3 was the last vehicle still left to get front bumper camera, with Cybertruck, Model Y and even Model S and Model X all got it before it came to Model 3.

The inclusion of a front bumper camera is likely to play a crucial role in Tesla Vision and Full Self-Driving (FSD). It addresses a visibility gap created by the removal of ultrasonic parking sensors (USS) and enhances drivers’ ability to navigate tight parking spaces, pull up against curbs, and maneuver into traffic.

Beyond its practical benefits for parking, the low-mounted camera is expected to provide valuable data for FSD, particularly for Smart Summon . This data will improve visibility in complex, low-speed urban environments, and we believe that Unsupervised FSD will necessitate such capabilities.
